As much as 50% of the energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. So, making smart decisions about your home’s heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system can have a big effect on your utility bills, your comfort, and your health. If the duct work in your home is more than 10 years old, you may want to replace it. Ducts move and shift. New innovations in duct work may help balance the cooling and heating in your house and help prolong the life of your AC system.
When should I replace my AC ducts?
The Energy star program recommends that you consider replacing ducts and other A/C equipment when:
- Your system is more than 10 years old
- You have high Energy bills
- Some rooms are too hot or too cold
- Your home has a humidity problem
- Your home has excessive dust

What does AC Duct Replacement involve?
Inspection: The duct work in your attic needs to be inspected to determine its condition. We will check:
Physical condition of the ducts:
- Are all the ducts connected correctly?
- Any leaks, tears or other physical damage to the AC ducts themselves?
- Are all the ducts sealed?
- Type of ducts – the material they are made of
- Width of ducts – is the width of the AC ducts appropriate for the air that is pushed through them?
- Length of ducts – is the length of the AC ducts appropriate for the air that is pushed through them? Often, we find that some ducts are so long, that by the time the reach the rooms, there is very little cold air left in them. Other times we have seen that the system is not strong enough to force the air through the entire length of the duct.
- Are there any visible signs of mold or mildew?
Duct system design:
